North Jakarta Temporarily Closes All Green Open Spaces

North Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency temporarily closed again all green open spaces (RTHs) such as parks, urban forests, green belts, and plant nurseries. The closure was carried out to anticipate COVID-19 transmission during Micro PPKM extension period.

RTHs are closed temporarily due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta

North Jakarta City Park and Forestry Sub-agency's Park and Urban Forest Section Head, Mutiara informed, temporary closure began from June 22 until further notice.

"RTHs are closed temporarily due to increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Jakarta in order to prevent crowds since it is potential to create new cluster of COVID-19," she conveyed, Friday (6/25).

She explained, RTH closure was done according to Jakarta City Park and Forestry Agency Head's Decree No. 166/2021 on Closure of Green Open Spaces for Parks, Green Belts, Urban Forests, Nurseries, Ragunan Zoo and Restrictions on Activities in Public Cemeteries During Micro PPKM.

As well as Jakarta Gubernatorial Decree No. 796/2021 on Micro PPKM Extension.

Although it was temporarily closed for public, her side ensured to clean and carry out routine maintenance for facilities at green open spaces.

"There are 232 RTHs which temporarily closed in North Jakarta, such as Bintaro Park, Maramba Park, Sekar Gading Park, Palem Park, Rotanusa Park, PIK Mangrove Ecotourism Area, Kendal River Park and others," she mentioned.
